Pickleball
Pickleball has gained huge popularity in our community as it has throughout the country at all major adult communities. Our sport has grown from three (3) to over 120 folks interested in playing "a slowed down version of tennis that places an emphasis on coordination, patience and strategy rather than brute strength or power". There is less physical demand on the body than tennis, thus folks that have necessarily stopped playing tennis or have been "couch potatoes" for years are finding a new and fun exercise and social outlet with pickleball.
Pickleball is an easy to teach, easy to learn and is an excellent lead up game to teach tennis and other racquet sports." As in any sport, "practice makes perfect", so excellence does take a bit more time and effort. The game was first introduced to Keowee Key® during the early Spring of 2010 and grew in popularity to the point the community's hard surface "deco-turf" courts (1 &2) were "striped" to accommodate the popularity of the game. The action is quite quick and exciting and thus makes for a great spectator sport, as well.

Hope to see you on the courts!
